The Pace Report: “A King Sized Soul Man” The Sam Moore Interview

Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and Soul Icon Sam Moore has used his voice and experience to keep soul music and American roots music alive. Half of the Grammy-Award winning duo, Sam and Dave, the men recorded a slew of soul classics on Stax Records during the 1960’s which include: “Soul Man,” “Hold On, I’m Coming,” and “When Something Is Wrong With My Baby.”

Sam recently used his voice to pay tribute to the great Dr. Martin Luther King for a song he recorded at the famed Royal Studios in Memphis, Tennessee, home of the late Willie Mitchell and Hi Records. The song “They Killed A King” was released on April 4th, 2014 the date Dr. King was assassinated at the famed Lorraine Hotel in downtown Memphis.

In this, my 400th episode of The Pace Report, Sam Moore and I sit down and candidly talk about the legacy of Dr. King as well as how he performed with the legendary civil rights leader for rallies in the 1960’s and the advice he gave him throughout his short time he knew him.

Sam’s latest single “They Killed A King” is now available on i Tunes and Amazon.com. For upcoming info on Sam’s upcoming tour dates, please visit him online at http://www.sammoore.net.
